2013 Emmy's

Since the Emmy's are a pretty big deal, I thought it might be a good idea to post a handfull of my picks for best and worst. I didn't actually watch them, so I may have missed some really great one's as I am going solely from what I can find online.

Overall,  I think it was a bit of a snoozefest. There were a lot of boring dresses out there. But I did manage to find some gems. Hope you enjoy!

BEST

The truth is, I almost passed this one by because of the strange color combination. But after much consideration, I think this is my favorite. I love that it's simple yet unexpected at the same time! Michelle Dockery hit it out of the park in Prada!

I suppose this isn't the most adventurous dress, but I think Tina Fey looks perfect. The fit, cut and color are right on for her!

Personally, I think Rose Byrne could wear a table cloth and look stunning, but I've got to say that this Calvin Klein dress is anything but a table cloth. I love the color, and what could have been a misstep with the slightly bear midriff turned out to be a stunning feature (especially with the criss-cross detail just above it).

My only complaint is that I am not crazy about this color. But Mindy Kaling looks gorgeous anyway. The detailed neckline combined with the simple dress has me sold!

I think there's a good chance this is on my favorites list because, 1- It's my favorite color, and 2- It's Zooey Deschanel. It is a really pretty and simple silhouette. I think she looks amazing!

'A' FOR EFFORT

I don't know who this is, but I love this black and white gown! I think the only thing that puts me off a little is the length. It honestly looks like there's a trip just waiting to happen.

This comes across as slightly matronly on Vera Farmigia, but I still think she looks amazing! I like the belt and the full skirt. The top part of the back is lovely, but I don't like how low down it goes.

I think this Prada dress on Lena Dunham made most of the worst-lists. But I've gotta say, I really like it! The print and colors are lovely! And the most important part is that is seems to suit her very well. I personally love this choice for her!
This got the #1 best in my Entertainment Weekly. Sofia Vergara definitely looks pretty and the dress fits her very well, but I think it's incredibly boring. That is all.

NO, NO, NO, NO

This  dress on Julianne Hough makes me want to vomit. I already was not a fan of the short skirt under longer see through skirt. But these briefs under the long chiffon skirt are just wrong! And the top isn't making up for anything either.

I don't know who this is, but I really don't like this dress. I sometimes love lace, but the extreme two-tone is not doing this dress any favors. Neither is the asymmetry.

Oh Heidi Klum! She always seems to have such good taste on Project Runway, but she just never seems to deliver when she is on the red carpet herself. I think this dress would be fine without that giant, red snake strangling her!

I don't see how anyone could put this on, look in the mirror, and think that it looks good. Plus, it looks like it is two sizes too big. What was she thinking?!

  1. I love the Michelle Dockerty dress, and the Heidi Klum dress looks like something from Star Trek - awesome in an episode, maybe, but not on the red carpet.
